Gateshead secure new striker
Gateshead FC have signed 22-year-old forward David Eguaibor on a two-year contract, effective June 2026. The former Cove Rangers striker, who scored 11 goals in 42 appearances last season, will wear number 27 in Lee Cattermole’s squad.
Background and performance
Eguaibor left Scottish League One side Cove Rangers after the 2025/26 campaign, where he had joined from Irish club Cobh Ramblers. During his time in Scotland he made 42 appearances and netted 11 goals, his first full-time season in professional football.
Contract details
The new deal runs for two seasons and is subject to international clearance. Eguaibor will be part of Lee Cattermole’s squad for the upcoming campaign in the National League North.
Player’s reaction
“I couldn’t wait to get in,” said Eguaibor. “When I went to Scotland, I learned a lot. I learned fast as well, and hopefully I can bring that here, score goals and get regular game time as well. I can’t wait to get started - I just want to come in, score goals and work hard.”
Next steps
Eguaibor will join Gateshead in the summer of 2026 and will be available for selection in the 2026/27 season. The club will confirm his first training session once international clearance is completed.
