Gateshead travel to Aggborough Stadium on Wednesday to face Kidderminster Harriers, needing a result to arrest a difficult start to the National League season. The Heed sit 23rd in the table with just four points from seven games, having lost four of their last five matches.
Their most recent outing was a heavy 4-0 defeat away at Forest Green Rovers last Saturday. The goals came from Kyle McAllister, Rhys Rees, Jack Clarke and Oliver Ewing, leaving Gateshead with a goal difference of minus eight for the campaign so far.
Recent history against Harriers
Wednesday's hosts, Kidderminster, will be buoyed by a 2-0 win over Hartlepool United last Friday, secured by a late Callum Stewart strike and an own goal. However, recent history in this fixture heavily favours the visitors. Gateshead have won the last three meetings, including a 2-0 victory at Aggborough in February 2024 and a 4-0 triumph before that.
The Tynesiders' last defeat to Kidderminster came back in 2020, a 1-0 loss at the International Stadium. The most famous recent clash between the sides was a 3-2 Harriers win in 2009, sealed by a late Matthew Barnes-Homer goal under then-manager Mark Yates.
Wotton's assessment
Kidderminster boss Paul Wotton praised his team's performance against Hartlepool. "I thought we were really, really good, really front-footed and committed," he said. Wotton also highlighted an improvement in game management, adding, "It’s important to learn from every game and every situation. We were much, much better at managing the game against 10 men."
Harriers will be without goalkeeper Owen Evans through injury and defender Angus MacDonald due to suspension, but otherwise have a fully fit squad. Gateshead's own squad details and recent results are available on our squad and fixtures pages.
Matchday information for fans
Away supporters should note that Aggborough Stadium is a cashless venue and tickets cannot be purchased in person on the match day. All tickets must be bought in advance or online, with online sales available up to 15 minutes after the 7:45pm kick-off. The Kidderminster ticket office can be reached on 01562 823 931.
Car parking at the ground is extremely limited, and the stadium operates a strict no-smoking policy which includes vapes and e-cigarettes. The club supports the National League's anti-discrimination message, and any discriminatory behaviour or the use of pyrotechnics will not be tolerated. Supporters can report concerns to stewards or via email to the club.
Ball retrievers at Aggborough will collect balls that leave the field and place them on cones for players to collect. The club also advises that some flashing light sequences used at the stadium may cause discomfort for photosensitive viewers.
For Gateshead, the match represents a critical opportunity to stop the slide and build some momentum ahead of a busy period in the schedule. Their next fixture after this midweek trip is at home to Sutton United on Saturday.
