Gateshead forward Ash Boatswain has been called up to the Montserrat national team for three CONCACAF Nations League matches. The club announced the news on Friday, confirming the 24-year-old will join the squad from September 20th to October 7th.
This marks Boatswain's ninth senior cap for Montserrat. He will be involved in a quartet of Group G fixtures, starting with a trip to face the Turks & Caicos Islands on Wednesday, September 23. Montserrat then hosts the British Virgin Islands three days later before a return fixture away to the same opponent on October 1. The group stage concludes with a home game against Turks & Caicos on Tuesday, October 6.
Gateshead FC issued a brief statement on the call-up. "Congratulations, Ash!" the club said.
Boatswain's international duty comes as Gateshead seek to improve their domestic form. The Heed sit 23rd in the National League with just four points from eight games, having lost their last three matches. The squad's current struggles are detailed in the standings.
Boatswain will link up with the Montserrat squad after the Southend match.
